Data Deletion

This page explains how to request deletion of the data vacans holds in connection with your Instagram account, and how to check the status of a request. You do not need to sign in to view this page.

You can delete the data stored in vacans in any of the following ways.

1. Remove only the Instagram connection

Sign in to vacans, go to "Settings" and press "Disconnect" in the Instagram section. We immediately delete the Instagram connection information stored in vacans (account name, user number and the encrypted access token). The posts and videos you have made are kept.

2. Delete your whole account (close your account)

Use "Close account" in "Settings". Your data is deleted 30 days after you close your account. During those 30 days, you can cancel the closure. After 30 days, we delete your account, photos, videos, text, schedules and Instagram connection information. Removal from backups may take additional time.

3. Remove vacans in Instagram's settings

In the Instagram app, open "Settings and activity" → "Website permissions" → "Apps and websites", and remove vacans. Instagram (Meta) sends a deletion request to vacans. We verify that the request genuinely comes from Meta, then automatically delete the Instagram connection information stored in vacans (this also works if you can no longer sign in). You will receive a confirmation code and a link to this page. Open the link (this page with ?code= followed by your confirmation code) to see the status of your request.

4. Ask us by email

Email [Owner to fill] and tell us the Instagram account you connected.

What we delete

  • The connection between your Instagram account and vacans, in every vacans account it is connected to, including the access token
  • Your Instagram account name in our audit records

When you only disconnect vacans (deauthorize) in Instagram, we mark the connection as "reconnection required" and delete the access token.

What we keep

  • The posting history (the IDs and links of posts that were published) is kept as the record of the vacans account that made the posts.
  • For each deletion request we keep only: a hashed confirmation code, a keyed hash of the Instagram ID, the status, and the date and time. This lets you check the status, and does not contain your Instagram ID itself.
